Review of the Unboxing the Cryptic Killer from Eleven Puzzles

A new cooperative game from Eleven Puzzles was released a few days ago. The next part of the adventures of the Cryptic Killer is another dose of puzzles created for detectives Old Dog and Ally by a serial manipulator. How does the new Steam escape room game perform and is it worth spending 8 euros? Here's a review of Unboxing the Cryptic Killer!

The review will be short, but succinct - just like Unboxing the Cryptic Killer from Eleven Puzzles.

Taking advantage of a free afternoon, my partner and I decided to play a newly released game once. Unboxing the Cryptic Killer is a game designed for two people - one player takes the role of Old Dog, the other (in our case it was me) - Ally.

Until May 5, the game was available at a lower price - about PLN 20. Each player must have their own computer to play and the Steam app, which adds up to PLN 40 (about 8 euros) per single game. It took us about 2-2.5 hours to go through the entire game, which is not a time we should be proud of. However, we took our time, enjoying the pleasure of pacing our brains after a few days of the lazy long May weekend. We enjoyed the beautiful graphics and the simple but interestingly constructed story. And, of course, the puzzles.

And what about the puzzles themselves?

In my opinion, the puzzles were quite simple, although not trivial! We had to spend some time on some of them. We also happened to take a hint, which, however, didn’t spoil the fun. We are people who are not afraid to ask for help, and in escape rooms we also take hints if the puzzles appear to be too difficult for us.

There were some puzzles that appealed to me less, but there were some that set my heart aflame (I won't say what it was, you have to check for yourself, but going back to the 90s is something that made my day!).

This is a very subjective opinion, because as many people, so many puzzle preferences, however, Eleven Puzzles created something very good. For those looking for a real mental challenge, the game may be a bit too easy, but for those looking for a way to relax - I highly recommend this game!

    Let's sum it up!

My opinion - 9.5/10! Absolutely worth the price. It's a pitty that our adventure ended so quickly. Nevertheless, this part made us wait even more for the next parts of the adventures of the crazy Cryptic Killer and a pair of detectives.

The Cryptic Killer series counts 2 more games, which are also worth playing:
