    RV Life

Outside of the escape rooms, one of the trickiest puzzles we’re having to solve with being full-time RVers is the logistics of how to get our mail and packages delivered. We have a mail service in Florida where all of our mail gets sent, but then we have to have them send it to us wherever we are. Unfortunately, many campgrounds do not allow mail or package deliveries to short-term guests, though, so if we need to get an important package (yes, marshmallow roasting sticks are important), we have to adjust our travel schedule to be somewhere we are able to receive it. (Hey, Amazon, we need more lockers!!)

Last week we were supposed to leave on Wednesday from Kissimmee, FL, but we were still waiting on a shipment of heart medication for our dog, Max. Luckily, we received the most important medication and we were able to have his other prescription that was out of stock filled at a local pharmacy. However, since we need to refill his prescriptions every month, I am sure this is not the last time that we will need to make adjustments to our plans. Max is happy now. Woof!

After our short delay, we made it to our first stop in North Florida, the small town of Bonifay. (This was the first time we’d seen an actual Piggly Wiggly grocery store. Oink!)

We had a few days here to visit with some friends and we were also able to make the 45-minute trip up to Dothan, Alabama to play a couple of rooms at Escape Dothan, which was the closest escape room to our campground.

    Escape Rooms

Escape Dothan is a small family-owned business and we played Time Warp, a 70s-themed room, and Murder at the Mansion, a game based on the board game, Clue. Both had some solid puzzles, but of the two we enjoyed Time Warp the best. The 70s theming was fun and we enjoyed the moderately higher level of difficulty.

We kept overthinking in Murder, and it caused us to get hung up at a few points (can any of you relate?). There was also one prop that we thought could have been timed better. We received the game piece several puzzles before we needed it, and we wasted a lot of time trying to use it on everything. The staff here was very friendly, and we enjoyed the venue more than we thought we would. If you are in the area we would recommend checking them out!

We’re excited to be writing this from our second stop on our trip, Robert, Louisiana. Robert is located about an hour from both Baton Rouge, LA and New Orleans, LA, making it the perfect base camp to be able to play many of the great escape rooms that Louisiana has to offer.

We just arrived here yesterday and our plans for the week include rooms at 13th Gate, Clue Carre, Escape Warehouse and Escape My Room. Thanks to the Escape Room Enthusiasts Facebook group, we were able to find additional players to meet the 4-player minimum at 13th Gate and will be playing Spellbound and Cutthroat Cavern!

In next week’s article, we’ll fill you in on all the rooms we were able to play! Stay tuned!
