400 people in an escape room! How is that possible?

Most often, people go to escape rooms in a group of 3-4 people, sometimes more, sometimes less, however, anyone who enjoys going to an escape room knows how difficult it is to gather a larger team of players at a convenient time for everyone. Would you believe if I told you that there are escape rooms for 100, 200 and more people?

Large-scale escape rooms that can accommodate groups of more than 10 people are no novelty. Many such places are called immersive experiences and involve actors. Yes, actors. Sometimes really a lot of actors.

Who are large-scale escape rooms for?

There are people who belong to large groups (friends, escape enthusiast family) and are looking for this kind of entertainment for themselves, but more often large-scale escape rooms are chosen for team-building events, birthdays or other events. There are also places where participants play with complete strangers.

Here's a list of the biggest escape rooms I've found that interested me the most.

    Let's start with the smallest.

    By bus through the city

Unexpected change of route is a scenario placed in 2 vintage buses of the Polish Jelcz brand (models M181MB and M121MB).

The bus full of puzzles, which travels through the streets of Warsaw, Poland, during the game, accommodates 15 people at a time.

    Experiment in the prison

Dorsen, a town in western Germany's North Rhine-Westphalia, is home to one unique escape room company.

At Geheim Depot you can play 5 amazing escape rooms.

Each Escape Room is accompanied by an actor, whether inside or outside the room, what provides the perfect immersion.

But let's focus on 2 scenarios - Atomic Outbreak and Trapped in the shaft. The scenarios are closely related, as they are alternative stories taking place in the same universe - in the world of Vivien Burdett's psychological experiment. At one time, each scenario is able to accommodate up to 24 players. Time - 120 minutes.

Escape the Palace of Fine Art

What if your team has more than 30 people? No problem. Up to 125 people can play at the Palace Games in San Francisco, California!

Escape the Palace of Fine Art using Dr. Armand Hand's notes. You have 120 minutes!

Your group will be divided into smaller teams of 5-7 that must work together to solve puzzles, in a race to escape the Palace first! This active game requires teams to visit different stations to solve a combination of puzzles, collecting answers for a final meta puzzle.

Note: Escape the Palace is being reimagined and is not currently available

    As huge as you want

How much space are you able to clear? Aftermath company form London, UK, has 3 scenarios in the offer, one designed for 90 people - Taskforce Hurricane (virtual game), and two for up to 280 people each - On the Break and The Missing Link.

Aftermath is an unusual company on this list, as the two mentioned scenarios are custom-built for the client. This means that the people from Aftermath will come and build an escape room in the client's space. The size of the space you have or are able to provide is one of the key factors in how many players will play.

The company also provides a dedicated Mission Master who sets up and runs the experience at client's location.

    Escape Prison Kruisberg in Breda

Escape Prison is the most extraordinary immersive experience I've heard of. The game is placed in a real, abandoned prison

Prison Escape is a real game where you play the role of a prisoner. You will be locked in a dome prison in Breda with one goal: ESCAPE! There are many guards watching you closely. It won't be easy to escape…

The game takes place at Kruisberg Prison in Doetinchem, Netherlands. Kruisberg Prison is a monumental building with a rich history. The building served as an active prison from 1866 to 2014.

The game has a capacity of 420 participants, and the game takes place over an area of 15,000 square meters! The game time is 3 hours. Participants are locked in 200 cells, and 80 actors take part in the game. Will you be able to escape?

    More places like this?

The world of escape rooms is amazing, and I wouldn't be surprised if there was a place offering entertainment for more people at the same time than Prison Escape in Breda. Have you heard of any other large-scale escape rooms?
